2) Plan your disconnection for maximum productivity and well-being
To ensure an ideal writing environment, we recommend that you turn off your notifications during the retreat. If you want, you can schedule an automatic out-of-office email. Here is an example to inspire you.
Hello,
I wish to inform you that I am participating in a writing retreat for the whole day of (day, month, year) and that I cannot answer my emails during this short period. I will answer you as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding. Tips:
1. If you tend to be very present on social networks, why not announce that you are on Thèsez-vous writing retreat for the day using the hashtags #WeAreWriting #Thèsezvous. Announcing your engagement "publicly" can help support your disconnection for the day. 2. During writing periods, we recommend that you keep your cell phone out of reach. |
3) Prepare your SMART objectives
To know more about SMART objectives adapted to academic writing, visit this page (it's only in French for now but we're working on translating it). We will talk about SMART objectives during the first session.
During the cohort, we will be using a common board for our objectives. You'll be able to add and move your objectives on the board at anytime during each session. We will use this common Kanban objectives board: postit.colibris-outilslibres.org/ceriumh22

4) Wear comfortable clothes
Comfort is essential to dive into a whole writing day.
5) Prepare your physical environment
In-person
If you have an external keyboard, an external mouse or a laptop stand, we suggest you to bring them to ensure you have a setup that's as ergonomic as possible. If you don't have a laptop stand, you can bring a few books to elevate your computer and it'll do the trick.

At home
